Do you have an intentional ecosystem?
At &now we have a strong belief that whatever your growth strategy is, strengthening your People Capability is always a major part of the answer. So, when I read this from Forbes over the summer, the idea of a ‘Capability Ecosystem’ hit home.
Of course, in client‑service businesses, people and how they work – and the capability this brings – are the key asset, the engine of client delivery, consistency and growth. But responsibility for this ‘asset’ is often undefined or siloed. And it can frequently fall between two stools
- HR which in smaller agencies rarely has the strategic depth to build capability at scale
- Leadership which with the hands-on pressures of running a client service business often lacks the headspace to design, prioritise and sustain it
So, building capability becomes at best fragmented and reactive… rather than coordinated and fit for future purpose.
The Forbes article talks about an ecosystem enabling you to holistically acquire, create, renew and reconnect expertise. We would go further to unpack the system itself to look at structures, approaches and behaviours to create a symbiotic approach to building capability.
At &now, we help small and medium client‑service agencies translate their goals into what they need to do now to meet them. We create, deliver and embed initiatives that strengthen People Capability in a way that works for each business.
We will share more thoughts on People Capability, the idea of collective vs individual capability, and how to build your own capability ecosystem over the next few weeks.
